We welcome our first guest, Andrew Darowski of Disney Animation Minute Essentials podcast. Scott McCloud has a theory of Japanese sensibilities in comics and film editing. We like the music and the silence. A girl talks to herself, and colors indicate light levels. We talk about the first time we saw this movie.

Richard gets nostalgic about 90’s-era cryptozoolgy & ufology, then the conversation switches from pseudoscience to real science. Chieko finds vials very satisfying. We find echoes of this scene in a couple of other movies.

A running joke is born. We finish the credits, with a shoutout to Ultra Q. We fantasize about owning the coolest glider in all of film history, but wonder what it uses for power. A pilot lands at the edge of a strange forest, and we compare her sartorial choices with figures in the tapestry.

We survey the credits and try to interpret the images on a tapestry. Chieko gives props to Joe Hisaishi and Richard researches the Harmony Process. We discuss comic book companies making movies, and we are introduced to God Warriors.
